Our Journey:
Hey there! We're the FAB 5, a bunch of friends who teamed up back in our high school freshman year in 2018. We realized we wanted to do something more, something bigger than just getting through high school. Our common goal was simple: make our community a better place. Fast forward to graduation, and we officially became a nonprofit organization. We even got ourselves an office, giving us the chance to focus on giving back.
**Where It All Began: Apple Valley Center Nursing Home**
Our journey started with a simple desire to help out our local nursing home, the Apple Valley Center Nursing Home. In that first year, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We provided much-needed supplies, like canopies, a brand new grill, TVs, and computers for the activities director. We also started throwing parties for the residents, bringing joy and laughter into their lives with events like bingo nights, paint nights, and some epic themed parties.
**Growing and Adapting Through Challenges**
As the years went by, and even when COVID-19 hit, we didn't slow down. We extended our helping hands to more organizations, like the Sterling Animals Shelter and the Women's Transitional Center in Devens, offering crucial supplies and assistance. We also joined forces with the Shirley Senior Center to support their lunch programs. We wanted to do more, and we found creative ways to make it happen.
**Our Fundraising Adventures**
Our fundraising efforts have been nothing short of epic. We've hosted some unforgettable events like:
1. **Drive-In Movie Night:**
We turned our high school parking lot into a movie theater, complete with a big screen and FM radio for an unforgettable movie experience.
2. **All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner:**
At our local church, we hosted a dinner that drew the whole town. The turnout was incredible, and it reinforced our belief in the power of community.
3. **Raffle Calendar:**
For all four years of high school, our raffle calendar was a hit. Each day had a prize, and if you bought a ticket, your name was in the hat every single day. It meant going door-to-door, but it was worth it.
